(Iain continues to tell the story of how Sarah became blind.)

Panel 1

(Black and white panel. Sarah's ex is sitting reading an old book. He has his coat off and his shirtsleeves rolled up. Book in his left hand, cigarette in the other. On the bare floorboards in front of him there is a cross, a cigarette packet and the beginnings of a network of triangles on the floor. Candles at three points, and other occult things dotted about. You can see the side of the guys face.)

Iain: He said he was in danger. The spell of protection he had to perform needed a sacrifice and he asked you. He said you had latent second sight you never used.

Panel 2

(Black and white panel. Sarah is looking at her necklace that she's just taken off.)

Iain: You had to take off your necklace for the spell to work. You went along with it. It was exciting.

Panel 3

(Black and white panel. Sarah sits in the circle with an eye painted on her forehead, holding two candles.)

Iain: That night when he performed the spell you saw nightmares appear in front of you.

Panel 4

(Black and white panel. Sarah's ex performs the spell. Purple lightning connects all the points of the triangles. You can see it properly now; it's a triangle in a triangle. There are candles where the two triangles meet. The flames are high and odd shades of purple and red. You see the magic in colour, the flames and the lightning. The guy has his hand hovering over the middle of the triangles, you see this over his shoulder.)

Iain: Your so-called 'latent' psychic talent wasn't latent at all and something went wrong.

Panel 5

(Black and white panel. Dark shadows of an evil face and hands around Sarah's head scratching at her eyes. Sarah is screaming in pain, and blood is streaming from her eyes.)

Iain: The demon took your actual sight. Then you passed out.

Panel 6

(Black and white panel. Sarah with bandages round her eyes, lying in bed.)

Iain: Next morning you woke up in hospital. He must have taken you there and left you. You never heard from him again and you've been blind ever since.

Panel 7

(Picture of Iain and Sarah looking at one another. Sarah is wiping tears away. Iain looks serious and angry.)

Sarah: The doctors said it was Stargardt's blindness but it isn't. It's my own stupid fault.

Iain: Sarah, I've heard of this guy before. He's bad news. Please don't speak to him again.

Sarah: Don't worry, I don't plan to.

Panel 8

(Iain gives Sarah a hug.)

Iain: And maybe we can help get your sight back. We'll give it a try.

Panel 9

(Sarah smiles at Iain.)

Sarah: Really? So which mystic are we seeing next?
