Susanna Krawczyk - Introduction

It is always tempting, when you are a city person, to feel that your city holds no secrets for you. You imagine that, because it's your city, you know its foibles and charms, you know its essential character. There can't be anything that odd going on, right under your nose?

Surely?

You'd be wrong. Your city almost certainly contains things you have never laid eyes on, from mysterious bookshops (not the kind of place to order a latte and read the latest Dan Brown) to people who may seem ordinary to you, but to someone with the right kind of sight... ...perhaps not.

Enter the world of Dark Red. See a city – maybe your city – through the eyes of someone who really knows. At the very least, if she doesn't yet, she will. She's struggling to cope with something she couldn't have seen (forgive me the pun, Sarah) coming, but she's not alone. When she meets some people she'd never have known had her life taken the path she thought it would, she realises – it's not a kind of dying.

It's the beginning of a whole new life.

Susanna Krawczyk - Introduction
30th May 2008

A quick word from your friendly neighbourhood web guy.

Hello again. We've something a bit different this week. We travel back in time to give you the official introduction to Issue #1. Thanks to Susanna for this. If you're enjoying Dark Red then you should know that a hard copy version is available. I've got one and it's lovely. I was hugely impressed both by Lynn and Jo's work and the print quality from Indy Planet. Incidentally, Dark Red now sits in my bookshelf next to Neil Gaiman's Sandman comic book series due to the quirk of alphabetic ordering. Go Dark Red!

If you look around you should also see that we've updated the website again. Version 2 was functional but a bit plain in places. Version 3 has had a lot of time spent on some little details which, hopefully, give it a much more polished appearance. I'm particularly pleased with the new look archive and blog. With any update we may experience a few teething problems. As ever, if you experience any problems with the site then get in touch.

Enjoy,

Matthew
