Bonus Page!!

A special two-page week just for you. Hope you're enjoying it.

After the hard work of page 10, this page just flowed into being. It's also one of the few pages that survived the editing process as is. It remains the same confusing conversation that I enjoyed writing in the first place and always makes me smile even now. To me this is one of the defining moments of Dark Red.

Jo did an excellent job with the lettering, it works so well with the panels. Sometimes things need tweaking when a page is finished. Either because I've not explained well enough, I'm trying something that just didn't work, or I'm being a little bit pernickety. Page 10 was a prime example, bits needed moved and a couple of ideas needed reworked. I had original had Sarah yell, 'Piss Off!', out with a bubble. But it wasn't clear who was yelling it, so we added it to the rest of her text bubble. But this page was easy and worked from beginning to end. I wish all pages were like that.

Also panel 6 is interesting. In my mind I wanted a picture of Sarah pointing her stick at the camera and you saw her face at the end. But when I explained what panel we were doing to the cast. Bella shoved her stick in Iain's face and he leant right back with the most perfect expression on his face. That's what I like about working with the characters I see the moment more clearly and it helps refine the comic. I took the picture of the action and that's what we're seeing now.
