Someone referred me to a page on Comixpedia regarding Photographic comics this week. It was interesting to read about what other people are doing. I also loved the Italian term for this kind of comic, 'Fumetti'. It means little puffs of smoke and refers to a kind of photo-comic that was really popular there. So welcome to the latest edition of the Dark Red Fumetti! Or should I say, 'Fumetti Rosso Scuro'. That's not so good, the translator at Dictionary.com didn't know the Italian word for comic. This was another page that needed lots of work. But mostly cause I got carried away with the effects the first time. I initially had the top three panels warped. Mostly to show how things weren't where she thought they were but realised later on that I was gilding the lily. After I took it back to the initial panels it looked a lot better. Also the main panel that makes up the background was a lot brighter and as soon as I toned it down the despair showed a lot better. I don't know about anyone else, but comfort food would be the only thing to drive me out of the house in those circumstances. I suppose if Sarah smoked that would be the other thing but she doesn't. I gave up years ago. It was a tough thing to do and I suppose I didn't want her to suffer even more by giving her the habit. It's been a couple of years since I started writing Dark Red and I've thought of them as real characters for most of that. Writers are strange creatures sometimes. I love Sarah's wonky thoughts on this page, and the dotty effects in panel four. That's called 'half-tone' if I remember correctly. That's also a Yorkie Bar she dropped on the floor, if any of you are wondering. Anyway the sooner I stop rambling, the sooner there will be an update. Have a great weekend. Lynn |
