2nd February 2007
Friday again! I can't wait for the weekend, more time to devote to Dark Red, friends and photography. It's been exciting starting everything, hope you're enjoying it too. The web guy came round to tweak the site a couple of days ago, and our comic's now broken on the Web Comic List. I thought it was fixed but no, it's broken more. Our fault. Figures... It's a great site though. If you're into webcomics, I recommend joining and having a look around. There's some amazing writers and artists there. I've learnt loads hanging out. Guess what I'm just got my grubby hands on? The finished lettered pages 10 and 11. Jo's outdone herself, this thing is coming alive. I'm also half way through page 12. Tell you what, if I can get twelve pages ahead, which should happen in about four to six weeks, we'll have a bonus weekend. That means a page a day for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A Dark Red weekend, how cool would that be? Looking back at page four, I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I deliberately kept the text to a minimum and let the emotions speak for themselves. I could have gotten away with even less I imagine. Neil Gaiman once talked about not overwriting and the power of the blank panel. I think that advice sunk in. He also pointed me to Wally Wood's 22 panels that always work, brought to us by Joel Johnson. When I realised I would be planning the pages and doing the art they were a great help. Listen to Neil! He knows what he's talking about. I also drew the white streak on the wrong side first time round in the mirror. It was one of those things that you just know you're going to get wrong the first time you do it. Anyway it's now past midnight, I need to stop writing and head off to bed. May you have pleasant dreams. Lynn |
