Hope everyone's had a good week and has a fun weekend planned. This is actually the first time I'm uploading the page by myself. I'm sure I'll be fine. Fingers crossed. You might think that a blind person wouldn't say something like 'See you!' but some things are so ingrained into vocabulary that it's hard to avoid them. I'd like to quote from the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) before I continue. "We believe that it is respectable to be blind, and although we have no particular pride in the fact of our blindness, neither do we have any shame in it. To the extent that euphemisms are used to convey any other concept or image, we deplore such use. We can make our own way in the world on equal terms with others, and we intend to do it." I will not be referring to Sarah as a visually impaired person or by any other euphemism. I will also not be avoiding references to sight in speech. It might come across as being ironic, but it is not meant to offend. That quote above does remind me of the way Sarah feels about the whole thing. It happened, it's annoying, I might be down sometimes but how can I get on with things again so that I can make my own way in the world? For more information:
